PlatThea

Theater is at least as diverse as people themselves. PlatThea is a province-wide, cross-linguistic network of drama educators in South Tyrol, and it creates meaningful impulses through that diversity. As the association became more professionalized and a website was developed, a form of communication emerged that makes this openness visible and gives the platform a distinct and contemporary identity.

It is easy to claim diversity and still end up with an identity that looks surprisingly narrow. That was exactly the real risk here. What was needed was not a polite umbrella brand, but a visual language that creates structure while still leaving enough room for difference, movement, and individuality.

Drama education does not come in one single form, so the brand was not given just one either. Behind the wordmark, free and shifting shapes emerged that function like small stages at times soft, playful, open, or condensed. The name itself supports this idea: Plat as in platform, Thea as in theater, with “Thea” tipping into the vertical and turning into a stage within the sign itself.

The visual identity gives PlatThea a living framework. The forms shift, the stage remains. That is exactly what keeps the whole thing from feeling like a sealed-off sign and allows it to breathe with the people behind it and their different approaches. The animations on the website continue this idea and turn the brand into an actual little space for play.
